Networking, Popcorn & Prada: An Evening to Remember
At the beginning of June, we hosted our first in person EA How To event and swapped meeting rooms for movie seats as our Plus members came together in London for a very special evening at Curzon Victoria.
And not just any film...
We hired out an entire cinema screen to watch The Devil Wears Prada 2 - because let's be honest, if there's one film guaranteed to get a room full of Executive Assistants talking, it's that one!
With a drink in hand, popcorn at the ready and some seriously delicious chocolates to enjoy, members settled in for an evening packed with laughs, networking and plenty of "I've definitely had one of those days!" moments.
"By all means, move at a glacial pace..."
Whether you've watched it once or twenty times, Devil Wears Prada never gets old.
Sure, it's a Hollywood version of the assistant role (thankfully most of us aren't hunting down unpublished Harry Potter manuscripts!), but underneath the designer handbags and sharp one-liners are some very relatable moments.
Managing impossible schedules? We’ve done it.
Thinking three steps ahead? Already on it.
Keeping calm when everything around you feels chaotic? Most of the time.
Anticipating exactly what someone needs before they've even asked? Completed it.
Thankfully, today's Executive Assistants are recognised for so much more than running errands. EAs are strategic partners, problem-solvers and often the people keeping everything running behind the scenes. But there's still something incredibly satisfying about watching Andy navigate the whirlwind and come out stronger on the other side.
The Best Part?
Catching up with each other.
As much as we all love a good film, the real highlight of the evening was spending time together.
One of the biggest benefits of being part of EA How To Plus is connecting with people who just get it. No need to explain what diary Tetris is or why a last-minute meeting request can completely change your day!
It was fantastic to see familiar faces, welcome new members and hear conversations flowing before and after the film.
Sometimes the best networking happens when you're simply relaxing together.
A Huge Thank You
A massive thank you to GroupTogether, who very generously sponsored the whole event. Thanks to them, every guest also enjoyed a drink, popcorn and some incredible chocolates, making the evening feel extra special from start to finish.
We also couldn't have done it without the brilliant team at Eventify, who helped make everything run so smoothly behind the scenes. A special shout-out to Becky, whose organisation and support meant we could simply enjoy the evening knowing everything was taken care of.
Until the Next One...
Events like this are exactly what EA How To Plus is all about. Learning, connecting, building friendships and occasionally sitting back with popcorn to enjoy a film that every EA secretly has an opinion on.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a fun evening. We loved seeing you all and can't wait for the next member event in July!
Now be honest... who else still hears, "That's all." every time someone asks for something impossible?
